The survey tool matrix aims to give an overview of some of the survey and questionnaire tools available. The list of features is by no means exhaustive, but will hopefully give you an idea of what sorts of tools are available and what they can offer. We have tried to identify the key points you may wish to know such as does the tool offer multiple question types or does it provide respondent anonymity? If you would like further information on any aspect of using survey tools, please contact a member of the Learning Technologies team at tel@plymouth.ac.uk.
Survey Tool Matrix

I’m not sure about your Xs for survey monkey. I have an ‘unlimited’ £200 p.a. account and use it a lot, and it does ‘display results’ to me, though not a live summary to the users (i.e., like the fakeable poll on the intranet). It isn’t clear which you mean.
User identification is also possible – if you add a custom reference to the link you send individuals, then that is recorded in the downloadable dataset (for paid for use, anyway).
And ‘secure delivery’ – can you define that?
It might help if you added some text explaining what those columns mean below the matrix.
You might add the criterion ‘ crossplatform,’ which would be a big X for QMPerception.
There is also some dispute about whether Tulip can truly be anonymous, given that you have to be logged in to use it.
Could you also add links here to some sites for the various options? I’ve never heard of Perseus for example.
Another good survey tool to try out is NETQ http://www.netq-survey.co.uk.
It’s very easy to use: you create your questionnaire on your live-worksheet. Everything is drag-and-drop and the preview changes instantly. It’s very easy to collect responses from respondents.
Additionally, the reporting of your results is very advanced.
Are there any intentions to have a ‘University supported’ survey tool? This is obviously something that is used a lot around the University and rather than everyone buying licences for this or that would it not be more cost effective to have a UoP bought and supported package?
