Personal Response Systems

Personal Response Systems are the type of thing which have been made popular by television shows such as ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’, where an audience votes on questions posed to them. Voters send their responses via handsets to the presenter’s or lecturer’s computer, where votes are received and translated into PowerPoint and are displayed in chart or graph form.

One PRS system we use here at UoP is called Turning Point. This month Learning Technologist Joan Gavin has been working with lecturer Shirley Atkinson to help her incorporate this system into her teaching practice. To see how they got on please watch this video created by Science & Technology Faculty Learning Technologist, Jason Truscott.

To find out more about PRS systems please view this 2 page guide PRS two page guide.

The Teaching & Learning Directorate has two Turning Point kits, each containing 40 voting handsets, available for loan. If you wish to investigate using them in your own teaching practice please email tel@plymouth.ac.uk
